It's been awhile since I've written to you

So much has happened
Time has passed quickly
10 shifts left to work
Until I leave
For the Emerald Green
Isles that is...

I went to Chicago
Hit a bumper
In traffic
While reaching for
the best CHICAGO MIX POPCORN
In the world!

Relaxed at DICK'S
LAST RESORT
After a stroll to
MILLENIUM PARK
Where I took a pause
From it all
Let the world in for minute
And breathed

Cause I've been
Missing that
Been tight
My brain
For a month
Or so
Constricted
By tunnel vision
swirling, twirling
dizzying
engulfing
visions of
dancing dollar signs
And tables to
wait on...

See
To get there
Travel it is
Takes
Well
You know.
Money.

Money takes work
Work takes time
Time is well,
SHORT!

I make it work
Because it's my passion
(travel that is)
I work to make it
But I sometimes
Get lost
"In my mind"
And I let it eat
At me.

But at that moment
Staring at the skyline
of the "WINDY CITY"
With the nickname Windy
still up for debate
(FIRE, LAKE OR HOGS...YOU CHOOSE)

I calmed down
I smiled
I let the structure
I've been enforcing
On myself
Melt away
I didn't wish
For anything
To happen
Or not happen
Be over or through

Instead I strolled on
Laughing and prancing
talking
Future ideas
Of where to lead
the lives...

South Africa?
Belgium?
FRANCE?!
(I will wear pants--and prance!)

Lives lived in forward motion...
And damn it felt good.
Excited for the future
YES I AM!
While embracing the now
TRYING AS HARD AS I CAN!

Cause it's short
Even when it's long
No looking back
With wonder or wish
Just a smiling nod
"yeah I did that..."
